Finally finished this piece after months of indecision. While working on a potential beam of light engulfing the figure I decided to turn it into a radioactive/holographic halo.

I made this painting last week, titled: Apparent Shaman. The visual source is the same as my last painting (It Could): a 3-d model of a human face that I sculpted then distorted. I hope to continue expanding on this idea of using false-forms as referents in my paintings to emphasize the illusory nature of appearance, and the anthropic fallacy of “meaning” as something that can exist independent of a human-context.
